Festo Bionic Finwave Robotic Fish

Festo company has made a robot that looks like a fish that can swim inside water named it Festo Bionic Finwave. This is a completely artificial robot but it appears as if it is a real natural organism.

Introduction of Festo Finwave

With time, Robotic Engineering is evolving itself. In such a situation, man always tries to connect technology and nature. In such a situation, Festo company is a company that makes robotic models of many different creatures. Be it a butterfly flying in the sky or an Aqua Jelly that moves inside water.

In the field of engineering, it is easy to operate and make a robot function on land but there are many types of problems inside water, such as the machine may stop working due to water entering the circuit. Normal wheel or legs cannot be used for movement inside water, because swimming technique is used in it.

In such a situation, the engineer of Festo company launched this robot 6 years ago through a Youtube video. Talking about the design of this Bionic Finwave, it looks like a fish. However, its entire body has fins which move like waves. Cameras have been fitted inside its eyes.

Features of Festo Bionic Finwave

To adjust the ups and down movement of the body, it has been attached with many wheels and joints so that it can easily move up, or left and right very easily. With the help of the advance sensor fitted in it, it protects itself from collision and changes its direction.

Bionic Finwave

Although there are many other companies which work on such projects, but the best thing about Festo company is that it makes any robot completely wireless. Festo company has used rechargeable battery inside this Bionic FinWave so that this robot can remain completely wireless connected.

However, the Festo company has made it by mixing not one organism but two organisms. That is, half of the design has been taken from Polycad Fish, while the other half of its design has been taken from Cuttlefish.

With the help of this Robotic Bionic Finwave, it can be used in many industries like Water Waste Management, Underwater Organism Research etc. It is very light, the weight of this Aqua Underware Bionic FinWave is approximately – 430 grams.

Although work has been done on many other Bionic Underwater Projects in the market, but due to this machine being small, it can be sent to many places, along with this it is very fast and very thin, due to which it moves very well inside the water.

In such a situation, students who have inspiration from Modern Robotics Engineering can get very inspired by this, in which they will be able to understand how PCB, Radio Module, Pressure Sensor, Ultrasound Sensor have been fitted in this small body inside a very small Finwave. With the help of the sensor installed in it, it measures the distance ahead and the depth of the water level.

So that it protects itself from collision. However, at present this FinWave is mostly used only inside large pipes and the biggest challenge in this is how to add a better wireless power source to it. However, such Finwave can be controlled very well through wire.
